Giant Monster Book Box: Handmade D&D Mimic

This giant Mimic Book is one of my most cherished makes, the kind of creature that feels like it has grown slowly in the workshop rather than simply been built.

Handcrafted from laser cut maple faced wood and finished with a soft, careful touch, this oversized wooden monster book is designed to be both playful and practical. It makes a wonderful home for D&D dice, counters, trinkets, or even small card based games.

What makes this monster so special to me are the details. Every single tooth is painted by hand, giving each Mimic its own slightly cheeky personality. Its enormous eye is also individually painted, so if you would like a particular colour, just leave me a note at checkout and I will bring that vision to life.

The spine can be personalised for you. By default it reads Necronomicon on both sides, but I am very happy to add a name, title, or special word in its place.

The jaws of the book tilt gently backwards to open, like a sleepy creature stretching. When closed, four small magnets hold everything together snugly. If you plan to carry it in a bag, I recommend adding a ribbon or tie for a little extra security, just as you might with a beloved keepsake.

Inside, the book is lined with soft red velvet to evoke a warm, velvety mouth. Natural creases can sometimes appear in the fabric, which only adds to its organic, living feel.

Each piece is finished with fire and wax for a truly monstrous, textured effect that highlights the grain of the wood.
